Clouds before and after the pandemic

· Technology

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced companies to increase spending on cloud technologies: clouds can accelerate the modernization of corporate IT systems, provide support for remote work and remote interaction with customers and customers. In the coming year, cloud providers will continue to reap the benefits of a surge in demand for their services.

Clouds are a lifeline in a pandemic

In 2020, cloud services have become the only way for many companies to survive the crisis caused by the epidemic, to continue working, and to cooperate with customers and partners. Their spending has skyrocketed. Thus, according to IDC, corporate spending on cloud technologies last year increased globally by 34.4% compared to the previous year, while spending on IT, not related to cloud technologies, decreased by 8%.

Paradoxically, the pandemic has accelerated the digitalization process. Thus, according to a survey of 200 American CIOs conducted by IDC and Cloudreach in January 2021, 29.5% of respondents accelerated their digital transformation plans as a result of the pandemic.

And the cloud is recognized as one of the most important transformation tools, with 27.5% of respondents saying large-scale migration to the public cloud is "essential to survival." The main result of the past year for clouds is that the pandemic has changed the attitude of many organizations towards them, skepticism about cloud services has disappeared. Many companies “voluntarily-enforce” made sure that the cloud is stable and scalable.
